CollinsWoerman Principal Arlan Collins was invited by Bastyr University to speak at the groundbreaking for the school’s new 132-unit Student Housing on their Kenmore Campus. CollinsWoerman has been providing master planning and design services for the “student residential village” of 11 cottage-style buildings nestled in a forest near the campus. Seeking LEED certification and with construction now beginning, the new housing promises to be an environmentally friendly addition to Bastyr’s impressive Kenmore campus.

Phil’s article discusses programming methods health care facilities can use to maximize operations, and how architects can help hospital administrators improve staff operations and patient care through innovative design solutions.
The Daily Journal of Commerce reports on Lucia Athens’ Regeneration kick-off lecture at the AIA

The DJC’s “Building Green” section reported on Lucia Athens recent presentation for the American Institute of Architect’s Regeneration 09 lecture series. As reported in the DJC, Athens, with Pliny Fisk III of the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems and Jason Twill of Vulcan, discussed regenerative design in the context of mentorship and current work. The article details how the three sustainability experts engaged the audience, shared insights and offered ideas for how design will evolve into regenerative structures.
