Yesler Terrace

Seattle WA

CollinsWoerman is undertaking a historic project on behalf of the Seattle Housing Authority. The Yesler Terrace neighborhood redevelopment focuses on 30 acres on the southern slope of Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood. Built in 1939, it was the first racially-integrated housing project in the nation. CollinsWoerman is leading the master planning process to transform this neighborhood of approximately 1500 residents in 561 apartments into a prototype for urban living in the 21st century. This vibrant, sustainable community will emphasize livability, and a complete neighborhood.

Great place-making correlates strongly with adding value to the land. For Yesler Terrace, this intention would almost certainly involve the integration of affordable housing with market-rate units and a fabric of goods, services and amenities that attract demand.
